Spanner Athletes Shine at Vaalrivier Athletics Championships

A huge congratulations to all athletes who participated in the Vaalrivier Athletics Championships 2025! HTS Sasolburg – Spanner Athletics proudly had 113 athletes competing, and the results were nothing short of impressive.

Out of our dedicated athletes, 40 qualified for the Fezile Dabi Athletics Meeting. The championships saw remarkable performances with:

• 14 first-place finishes
• 14 second-place finishes
• 6 third-place finishes

Additionally, 4 HTS Sasolburg athletes earned spots in the top 50 achievements at the event, showcasing their dedication and skill.

The standout moment of the competition came from Peroni Lephuthing, who competed in the 1500m boys U/16 event. Peroni’s incredible time of 04:06.15 not only secured him a victory in his category, but it was also faster than both the boys U/17 and U/19 winning times. This exceptional performance makes Peroni an athlete to watch closely at the upcoming SA Championships.
